The Team of the Hauser Feuerwehr- and Fahrzeugtechnik AG has developed special vehicles to be used in tunnel accidents. Described below is the Tunnel Fighter, a vehicle currently in use at the St. Bernhard Tunnel between Switzerland and Italy. The technique for this vehicle is also in use at the Mont Blanc Tunnel |

| The
Tunnel Fighter is equipped with an additional rear cabin to be used when forward passage is no longer possible. This feature makes it fast and easy to exit the tunnel in the same direction you entered when emergency situations as heat, smoke, and darkness make it impossible to proceed The Tunnel Fighter is equipped with a steerable rear axle. The steering system of the Tunnel Fighter is equipped with the following 4 steering modes Four wheel steering Crab and offset steering Front wheel drive Rear wheel drive with second cabin This design can be used for almost every make of Chassis |
Superstructure:

Run flat devices allow the vehicle to be driven safely
with either one or more deflated tires.

Air-conditioned with over pressure fed
with fresh air plus ·
several
additional plugs for masks inside and outside of the cabins (autonomy
approx. 60 min) ·
Removable infrared cameras on the front and rear of the
vehicle. They are mounted as low as possible and are protected with a
glass window with washing system and wipers. ·
Monitors mounted in the cabins transmit all signals by
radio to the tunnel station. A temperature indicator is also included ·
Self protection ·
Foam nozzles located under the body
supply a foam carpet within 30 seconds.

Remote control roof monitor has a range of 80 meters
with water or 60 meters with foam.
